Is Wing Chun effective?

Wing Chun as a martial art

The unique martial art Wing Chun is designed to respond counter-offensively. This means that you use both offensive and defensive techniques at the same time. Mastering these techniques makes this sport effective on several levels.

Basics of Wing Chun

To understand how effective Wing Chun is, it helps to know the basics of this martial art.

Wing Chun is a South Chinese Kung Fu style, which was further developed and perfected in Hong Kong into the style we know today. Practitioners train with the goal of using the entire body in all ranges of combat. The basic distances of Wing Chun are: kick, punch, knee/elbow, wrestle and ground.

For each distance there are series of movements that are practiced during the training sessions. By repeating these over and over, you master the movements in such a way that you automatically apply them.

Take advantage of the Wing Chun effect

In the Wing Chun classes, the practitioner is trained to make the body react logically and smartly in every combat situation. The structure of WuDae's curricula ensures that you are increasingly able to use your opponent's strength with instinctive reflexes to overpower them. Even if your opponent is bigger and stronger!

The more progress you make in developing your skills, the more confident you will feel. You will notice that you are increasingly able to find your balance in everything you do.
